In the 220 years from 1780 to 2000, 129 men gave generously of their time and effort serving Richmond Academy and the city of Augusta. For much of their history, the trustees had municipal, ecclesiastical, educational and commercial duties. Over the years, however, their duties become limited to the welfare of Richmond Academy. The history and biographical sketches comprising this volume provide an overview of the people and events responsible for the preservation of this beloved institution. Alethia E. Bigbie (Lee) Nowell is a native of Claxton, Georgia and served as Librarian and Media Specialist for Richmond Academy for over 17 years. This book, along with The University of Georgia and Richmond Academy and Memories: The Academy of Richmond County comprise her trilogy of Richmond Academy.
